March 14th has widely become known as “Steak and Blowjob Day”, the male equivalent of Valentines Day, a special day for us to show our husbands, boyfriends and partners how much we love them with a beautifully prepared steak and a little something extra in the bedroom.
If your confidence lies outside of the kitchen, we’ve pulled together a few quick tips to cooking the perfect steak – no matter your master chef level.
- Failing to prepare, is preparing to fail: Get your steak out of the fridge and let it come to room temp before cooking. Frying or grilling your steak from cold will limit the heat penetration leaving your steak under cooked in the middle and over cooked on the outside.
- Feeling hot, hot, hot: Make sure the pan is hot before you add the steak. Your favourite cut of steak should sizzle as it hits the pan – this will get it that lovely seared colour and allow the meat to seal the juices.
- Get the timing right: Knowing when your steaks are cooked perfectly for yours and your partners taste is key. An easy rule of thumb to go by is that the firmer the steak, the more well-done it is cooked. So if you like your steak on the rare side start with 2 minutes on each side depending on thickness.
As always, practice makes perfect so don’t fret if you don’t get it perfect the first time round. Try and try again. We doubt anyone will complain about being your guinea pig in the lead up to the big day!
